FILARMONICA ARTURO TOSCANINI
First example of a collection that will couple records of the Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini with unpublished documents by Toscanini, this slipcase is crafted in every detail, both in the form and in the content.
The letter contained in this slipcase, a faithful anastatica reproduction of a branch of the original, was sent by Arturo Toscanini to Ada Mainardi from the Bristol Hotel in Vienna, on the 23rd Oct. 1933. It is part of the Arturo Toscanini – Ada Mainardi Colleoni correspondence, bought by Fondazione Arturo Toscanini at the Stargardt Auction House in Berlin, on the 17th Mar. 1995.
The letter refers to Arturo Toscanini’s debut on the podium of the Wiener Philarmoniker. They soon learned to love him as they did with few other conductors of this Orchestra.
To accompany the listening and to enrich the fruition, there are many articles, starting from the enlightening essay by the musicologist Cesare Fertonani and a paper by Enrico Onofri, which reflects on the content of the wonderful Beethovenian pages he conducted.
Every contribution, including the letter by Toscanini, is both in Italian and in English translation.
The graphic design is specially crafted. Together with the slipcase, completely crafted in recyclable Fedrigoni paper, there is the letter by Toscanini, which comes from a thorough research in order to create a material that is the closest possible to the original document.
Of course the choice of Beethoven is not n accidental one: a composer with incarnates strength, perseverance, resistance, commitment to precise moral ideals, and a will that refuses to give up.
Performed in a concert hall – Auditorium Paganini in Parma – in which the audience is momentarily not allowed, the concert delivers a record full of significance, a real manifesto of the will to keep performing music, today, with tenacity and passion.
